Background:  Amani counselling Centre and training Institute (ACCTI) was established in 1979 and now stands out as the pioneer counselling and training model in Kenya and the region.

Mission statement
To facilitate the realization of psychological and emotional well being of the communities of Kenya and the region.

SERVICES OFFERED - A SUMMARY
CLINICAL SERVICES
(i)       Counselling individuals, family therapy and group therapy.  Some of the       issues dealt with include HIV/AIDS, adolescence issues, relationship   challenges, premarital and marital issues etc.

(ii)      Supervision for practicing counsellors:  This is done with individuals   as well as in groups.

TRAINING
1.     Short Courses and Workshops: We provide services within Amani and outside as per clients’ requests.  Our courses include training in Basic Counselling Skills, HIV/AIDS as well as workshops, seminars in various topics such as Trauma, Adolescents issues, parenting, Child Therapy among others.

2.    Certificate Course—3 modes:  Aim: To equip participants with basic counselling knowledge to use on a day-to-day basis.  It is offered to mature people who have a minimum form 4 certificate pass and with a special interest in supporting others in the society.  The course is offered in either one of the three modes:
          i. Wednesdays only – 9.00 – 4.00 p.m.
          ii. Saturdays only – 9.00- 4.00 p.m.          For 6 months
          iii. Block course – 4 weeks

3.    Diploma Course—2 Modes:  This is a 2 year part-time course.  Aim: To provide the students with education and training as professional counsellors through appropriate study and experience.  Admission requirements: Mature people who have graduate level of education or equivalent.  It is offered in 2 modes. 
          i. Wednesday, Thursday or Saturdays 8.30 – 4.30 p.m.
          ii. Block course— Monday – Friday 8.30 – 4.30 for 3 weeks during school holidays over 2 year               period.
