The Principal's word

Demistifying the Mystery of Faith

progress
merry christmas
some losses
hope in the future

The motto of the College, Tangaza Fumbo La Imani calls each of us to proclaim the “mystery of faith” and the central part of that mystery is the incarnation of Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, in our midst.

We recall and celebrate this in a special way at Christmas.  It is good to reflect on our response to the call that we proclaim this event to others.

Progress

Tangaza College continues to grow and develop. Marked by increases in the student body, the number of teaching staff and the variety of courses offered.  Let us never lose sight of our purpose, to form a centre of Catholic theological and ministerial education serving the continuing evangelization of the Catholic Church from an African perspective. (Statutes 1.1.1)

Everything at Tangaza should stem from our wish to proclaim the Good News of the incarnation of Jesus Christ.  It is a benchmark against which we measure all that we do.  We do it in a huge variety of ways engaging in many different ministries, but always in response to the urgent call to proclaim the Good News.

Merry Christmas

It is good that we celebrate the feast of Christmas, and also I hope that we prepare for that celebration during the season of Advent.

For many, including myself, there will be the chance to spend time with family members.  For many others, this will not be possible –
answering the call to spread the gospel has led many of us away from home.  Wherever we find ourselves I hope it will be a time of blessing and happiness.

Some Losses

Looking back over the year, we recall the shocking death of Fr Martin Addai in March and recently Br. Theodore Nzengung.  Our sympathies are particularly with their families and their communities who feel the loss so acutely at this time.

Hope in the future

During the Christmas period Kenya will have the General Election.  Let us remember to pray above all for peace and security during this time, and for a fair election which will help prosper all Kenyans, especially those who are most disadvantaged.

Personally, I wish everyone in the College a peaceful and happy Christmas. I wish all students success in their exams and assessments and hope that everyone will have the chance for some rest and relaxation before we meet again in 2008.
