Inspired by the charisms of the founding Religious Missionary Congregations, Tangaza School of Theology aspires to be a community of theological learning which provides a comprehensive basis in Systematic Theology, Scripture, Pastoral and Mission Studies and Canon Law for the fruitful exercise of ministry within the Catholic Church in an African context. It aims to instill an overall theological and pastoral perspective that is capable of on-going development throughout the ministerial life of the student. The School aspires to excellence in all its academic programmes and in its service of the wider public so that it can continue to flourish in East Africa as an international centre of Catholic Theology for the twenty-first century.
Tangaza School of Theology is a School of Ministry that trains religious and lay men and women for leadership and service in the Church in Africa and beyond. The programmes of the School of Theology develop in students the ability to think and reflect theologically, whilst forming habits of independent study and scientific research all oriented towards a preparation for an effective ministry in the Church.
As a multi-cultural Religious Missionary community of learning dedicated to formative theological education and research within the Catholic tradition, Tangaza School of Theology is especially responsive to contemporary ecclesial and social concerns in the building up and service of the Universal Church. Its lecturers and students are committed to a rigorous academic inquiry, on-going professional formation, inter-disciplinary study, and the engagement of faith and culture in Africa, whilst at the same time promoting responsible stewardship of the earth and respecting the integrity of creation.
